Product Overview
The VCNL4040 is a fully integrated proximity and ambient light sensor that includes an infrared emitter, I2C interface, and interrupt function. It combines photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital converters on a single chip using CMOS technology. The device offers high-resolution ambient light sensing (ALS) with excellent capabilities for various lighting conditions and a proximity sensor (PS) with an intelligent cancellation scheme to eliminate crosstalk. Programmable interrupt thresholds for both ALS and PS allow for efficient microcontroller resource utilization. The patented FiltronTM technology ensures spectral sensitivity close to human eye response and effective background light cancellation. The VCNL4040 operates from 2.5 V to 3.6 V and is available in a lead-free 8-pin molding package, providing reliable performance with temperature compensation.
