Product Overview
The VCNL4040 is a fully integrated proximity and ambient light sensor that combines a proximity sensor (PS), ambient light sensor (ALS), and a high power IRED into a single small package. It features photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital converting circuits on a single chip using CMOS process. The 16-bit high resolution ALS offers excellent sensing capabilities, while the proximity sensor includes an intelligent cancellation scheme to eliminate crosstalk and a smart persistence scheme for accelerated response time. The device supports I2C (SMBus compatible) interface for easy configuration and operates from 2.5 V to 3.6 V. It is packaged in a lead (Pb)-free 8-pin molding package.
