The HAL83x is a family of programmable linear Hall-effect sensors from TDK-Micronas, designed for robust, multi-purpose applications. These sensors offer enhanced quality, functionality, and performance compared to previous generations, replacing models like HAL 805, HAL 815, HAL 825, and HAL 810. The HAL83x family includes the HAL830 and the feature-rich HAL835. These universal magnetic field sensors provide a linear output based on the Hall effect, suitable for angle or distance measurements when paired with a magnet. Key characteristics such as magnetic field range, sensitivity, output quiescent voltage, and output voltage range are programmable via non-volatile memory. The sensors feature a temperature-compensated Hall plate with spinning-current offset compensation, an A/D converter, digital signal processing, a D/A converter with output driver, redundant EEPROM with lock function for calibration data, an EEPROM for customer serial numbers, and a serial interface for programming. Programming is achieved by modulating the supply voltage, eliminating the need for an additional programming pin. This allows for easy 2-point calibration, compensating for tolerances in the sensor, magnet, and mechanical positioning. The HAL83x is designed for demanding industrial and automotive environments, operating with a typical 5 V supply and an ambient temperature range of -40 C to 160 C. They are available in the compact TO92UT package and are AECQ 100 qualified.
