Amorphous Silicon Solar Cells - Amorton
Amorton, Panasonic's amorphous silicon solar cells, are a world-first integrated (series-connectable) solution developed using decomposed material gases to form a film on a substrate. Unlike crystalline silicon, amorphous silicon features irregular atomic arrangements, leading to more frequent photon-silicon interactions and higher light absorption. This allows for the production of ultrathin films (less than 1 m) for power generation. Amorton cells can be manufactured with multiple cells connected in series on a single substrate, enabling custom voltage designs for various applications. They are sensitive to visible light wavelengths, similar to the human eye, making them suitable for light sensing applications.
