Amorphous Silicon Solar Cells - Amorton
Amorton is Panasonic's brand of amorphous silicon solar cells, the world's first integrated (series-connectable) amorphous silicon solar cell. Unlike crystal silicon, amorphous silicon features irregular atomic arrangements, leading to more frequent photon-silicon interactions and higher light absorption. This allows for the production of ultrathin films (less than 1 m) for power generation. Amorton cells can be manufactured with various voltages by connecting multiple cells in series on a single substrate, offering flexibility in design for diverse applications. They are sensitive to visible light wavelengths, making them suitable for both power generation and light sensing.
