Amorphous Silicon Solar Cells - Amorton
Amorton is Panasonic's world's first integrated (series-connectable) amorphous silicon solar cell, named by combining 'amorphous silicon' and 'photons' (particles of light). Unlike crystal silicon, amorphous silicon features irregular atomic arrangements, leading to more frequent photon-silicon atom interactions and higher light absorption. This allows for the production of ultrathin films (less than 1 m) for power generation. Amorton cells can be manufactured with various voltages by connecting multiple cells in series on a single substrate, offering flexibility in voltage design for diverse applications. They are sensitive to visible light wavelengths, making them suitable for light sensing applications.
