The MDS18B20 is a digital thermometer offering 9 to 12-bit resolution temperature measurements. It features programmable non-volatile temperature alarm settings for both upper and lower thresholds. Communication is achieved via a single-wire protocol, requiring only one data line and a ground connection. The sensor operates within a temperature range of -55C to +125C (-67F to +257F), with an accuracy of 0.4C within the -10C to 70C range. It supports parasitic power mode, drawing power directly from the data line, eliminating the need for external power supplies. Each MDS18B20 has a unique 64-bit serial number, enabling multi-drop networking on a single bus, ideal for large-area distributed temperature monitoring.
