Product Overview
The GH1817/GTS1817 are self-adaptive Hall-effect gear sensors designed for automotive camshaft sensing and other speed sensing applications. The GH1817 requires an external magnet for detecting the motion of ferromagnetic gears, while the GTS1817 is an integrated chip and magnet module. These sensors offer easy installation due to their small package size and are compatible with various gear shapes and sizes. They feature short-circuit protection and an open-drain output compatible with logic circuits. The sensors incorporate a 10-bit A/D converter for data sampling and holding, and a separate 4-bit A/D converter for stable magnetic switch point hysteresis. Utilizing a single Hall sensor without chopper stabilization, they eliminate the need for precise alignment between the device and the gear. Operating on the Hall effect principle, these unipolar Hall switches can detect zero speed as their operating and release points adapt to the back-magnet strength.
