Product Overview
The HEDS-55xx/56xx and HEDM-55xx/56xx series are high-performance, low-cost, two and three-channel optical incremental encoders designed for easy assembly and high reliability. These encoders offer high resolution and feature a lensed LED source, an integrated circuit with detectors and output circuitry, and a codewheel. They provide two square waves in quadrature, with an optional third channel index output for a 90 electrical degree, high true pulse generated once per codewheel rotation. The HEDS series utilizes metal codewheels, while the HEDM series uses a film codewheel for resolutions up to 1024 CPR. These encoders are suitable for high-volume applications such as printers, plotters, tape drives, positioning tables, and automatic handlers. They are not recommended for safety-critical applications.
