Product Overview
The Bosch SMI230 is a combined triaxial accelerometer (ACC) and triaxial gyroscope (GYR) designed for non-safety related automotive applications, such as in-dash navigation systems within the passenger compartment. This 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) sensor integrates advanced 16-bit gyroscope and accelerometer capabilities into a single, compact LGA package, offering reduced PCB space and simplified signal routing. It provides detection of acceleration and angular rate across the x, y, and z axes, with flexible operation modes allowing individual or synchronized use of both sensors. The SMI230 features a common voltage supply range of 2.4 to 3.6 V and supports digital standard serial peripheral interfaces (SPI) and Two-wire Interface (TWI) for bi-directional data transmission. Its smart operation, consumer electronics suite compliance (MSL1, RoHS, halogen-free), and an operating temperature range of -40 to +105 C make it a versatile solution for modern automotive electronics.
