Product Description

Product Overview

The D-44 BW Series Area Sensor is a high-performance through-beam type sensor designed for long-distance detection up to 7 meters. It offers a wide range of models with varying optical axis pitches (20mm and 40mm) and sensing heights (120mm to 940mm), minimizing unsensing areas. Featuring high-brightness LEDs for clear visibility from multiple angles and distances, this sensor includes essential functions like self-diagnosis, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis. Its robust IP65 protection structure makes it suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Features

  • Long sensing distance up to 7m.
  • 22 types of products available with optical axis pitches of 20mm/40mm and sensing heights from 120mm to 940mm.
  • Minimizes unsensing area with a 20mm optical axis pitch (BW20- models).
  • High brightness LED on Emitter and Receiver for easy recognition from side, front, and long-distance.
  • Includes self-diagnosis, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis functions.
  • Protection structure IP65 (IEC standard).
  • Protection circuits: Reverse polarity protection, output short over current protection.
  • Self-diagnosis functions: Emitter/Receiver monitoring, direct light monitoring, over current monitoring.
  • Interference protection by master/slave function.

Functions & Operation

  • Self-diagnosis: The unit regularly executes self-diagnosis during operation. If an error occurs, the control output turns OFF and the operation indicator displays the status. Diagnosis items include Emitter/Receiver monitoring, direct light monitoring, over current monitoring, and malfunction of synchronous line.
  • Interference Protection: Operates one sensor as MASTER and another as SLAVE to avoid sensing errors caused by light interference when using multiple sensors in parallel.
  • External Diagnosis: When the TEST input (black wire) of the emitter is 0V, emitting stops, and the red LED of the emitter flashes. This allows external systems to check if the sensor is operating correctly.
  • Operation Indicator: Displays status for Power ON, MASTER/SLAVE operation, TEST input, Emitter/Receiver breaks, and output overcurrent.
  • Operation Mode: Light ON fixed.

Safety Considerations

  • Please read Safety Considerations in the instruction manual before using.
  • 12-24VDC power supply should be insulated and limited voltage/current or Class 2, SELV power supply device.
  • Use the product 1 second after supplying power. When using separate power supplies for the sensor and load, supply power to the sensor first.
  • When using a switching mode power supply, ground F.G. terminal and connect a condenser between 0V and F.G. terminal to remove noise.
  • When connecting a DC relay or other inductive load, remove surge by using diodes or varistors.
  • Wire as short as possible and keep away from high voltage lines or power lines to prevent surge and inductive noise.
  • This unit may be used in the following environments: Indoors (within rated conditions), Altitude max. 2,000m, Pollution degree 2, Installation category II.
