Product Overview

The BDH8203 is a CMOS omnipolar, high sensitivity, micropower Hall switch designed for battery-powered applications. Fabricated using mixed-signal CMOS technology, it integrates a Hall voltage generator, voltage regulator, sleep/awake logic for low power consumption, temperature compensation, a small-signal amplifier, a dynamic offset cancellation system, and a Schmitt trigger with an open-drain output. This device is capable of detecting both south and north poles, activating its output when a magnetic field of sufficient strength is present and deactivating it under no magnetic field. The output state changes when the magnetic flux density exceeds the operating point (Bop) and is maintained until it drops below the release point (Brp). With typical power consumption of 15W at 3.3V and an operating temperature range of -40C to 85C, the BDH8203 is ideal for solid-state switching, awake switches in handheld wireless handsets, magnet proximity sensors as reed switch replacements in low duty cycle applications, and as sensors for notebooks, PAD PCs, and PDAs.
