Product Description

Product Overview

The D-44 BW Series Area Sensor is a through-beam type photoelectric sensor designed for long-distance detection up to 7 meters. It offers a wide range of configurations with 22 product types, featuring optical axis pitches of 20mm or 40mm and sensing heights from 120mm to 940mm. The 20mm optical axis pitch (BW20-) minimizes unsensing areas. High-brightness LEDs on both the emitter and receiver ensure easy recognition from side, front, and long distances. The sensor includes self-diagnosis, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis functions, along with an IP65 protection structure.

Wiring and Connections

Input/Output Circuit and Connections:

  • NPN open collector output
  • PNP open collector output
  • Operation indicator (LEDs for POWER, Stable light ON, Unstable, Red for TEST/M/S)
  • Connecting Cable (sold separately, M12 connector)
  • Wiring Connection details provided for Emitter and Receiver pins.
  • Connections for TEST input: When TEST input (black) of emitter is 0V, emitting stops.
  • MASTER/SLAVE connections: Connect 'TEST (M/S)' of SLAVE emitter to 'SYNC' of MASTER.

Installation and Usage

  • Function: Self-diagnosis, Interference protection.
  • Installation: Emitter and receiver should be installed in the same up/down direction. Avoid installation where light reflected from wall surfaces can cause issues. Check normal operation with a sensing target before use (Interval distance: min. 0.5m).
  • Interference Prevention: For parallel installation of multiple sensors, use the master/slave function to avoid sensing errors due to light interference. Transmission direction should be opposite between 2 sets. Baffles and installation out of interference distance are recommended.
  • Proper Usage Guidelines: Follow instructions, use insulated and limited voltage/current power supply (Class 2, SELV), wait 1 sec after power supply, ground F.G. terminal for switching mode power supply, remove surge for inductive loads, keep wires short and away from high voltage lines.
  • Environmental Conditions: Suitable for indoor use (within rated environment conditions), altitude max. 2,000m, pollution degree 2, installation category II.

Troubleshooting

Cause Troubleshooting
Not operating
  • Power supply: Supply the rated power.
  • Incorrect cable connection or disconnection: Check the wiring.
  • Rated connection failure: Use it within the rated sensing distance.
Not operating sometimes
  • Pollution by dirt of sensor cover: Remove dirt by soft brush or cloth.
  • Connector connection failure: Check the assembled part of the connector.
Control output is OFF even though there is no target object.
  • Out of rated sensing distance: Use within the rated sensing distance.
  • There is an obstacle to cut off the light emitted between emitter and receiver: Remove the obstacle.
  • There is a strong electric wave or noise generated by motor, electric generator, high voltage line etc.: Put away the strong electric wave or noise generator.
LED displays for break of light emitting element Break of light emitting element.
LED displays for failure of emitter Break of light emitting circuit.
LED displays for failure of receiver Break of light receiving element.
LED displays for synchronous line Synchronous line incorrect connection or disconnection. Check the wiring. Break of synchronous circuit of emitter or receiver.
LED displays for control output over current
  • Control output line is shorten: Check the wiring.
  • Over load: Check the rated load capacity.
LED displays for emitter malfunction Emitter malfunction. Treat after checking the emitter display LED.
