Product Description

Product Overview

The D-44 BW Series Area Sensor is a high-performance through-beam type sensor designed for long-distance detection up to 7 meters. It offers a wide range of configurations with 22 product types, featuring optical axis pitches of 20mm or 40mm and sensing heights from 120mm to 940mm. The 20mm optical axis pitch minimizes unsensing areas, making it ideal for precise detection. High-brightness LEDs on both the emitter and receiver ensure easy recognition from various angles and distances. The sensor includes advanced features such as a self-diagnosis function, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis capabilities, all housed in a robust IP65 rated protection structure.

Functions

  • Self-diagnosis: Emitter/Receiver monitoring, direct light monitoring, over current monitoring. Control output turns OFF if an error occurs, with operation indicator displaying status.
  • Interference Protection: Master/slave function to prevent sensing errors caused by light interference when using multiple sensors.
  • External Diagnosis: Stopping emission by setting TEST input (black) of emitter to 0V. Red LED on emitter flashes. Allows external system to verify sensor operation.

Troubleshooting

Cause Troubleshooting
Not operating
  • Power supply: Supply the rated power.
  • Cable connection: Check wiring for incorrect connection or disconnection.
  • Sensing distance: Use within the rated sensing distance.
  • Pollution: Remove dirt from sensor cover with a soft brush or cloth.
  • Connector: Check the assembled part of the connector.
Control output is OFF even though there is no target object.
  • Sensing distance: Use within the rated sensing distance.
  • Obstacle: Remove any obstacle blocking light between emitter and receiver.
  • Noise: Move away from strong electric wave or noise generators (motors, high voltage lines).
LED displays for break of light emitting element Break of light emitting element. Contact Autonics Corp.
LED displays for failure of emitter Break of light emitting circuit. Contact Autonics Corp.
LED displays for failure of receiver Break of light receiving element. Contact Autonics Corp.
LED displays for synchronous line Synchronous line incorrect connection or disconnection. Check wiring. Break of synchronous circuit of emitter or receiver. Contact Autonics Corp.
LED displays for control output over current Control output line is shorted. Check wiring. Overload. Check rated load capacity.
LED displays for emitter malfunction Emitter malfunction. Treat after checking the emitter display LED.

Proper Usage

  1. Follow instructions in 'Proper Usage'. Otherwise, it may cause unexpected accidents.
  2. Use 12-24VDC power supply that is insulated, limited voltage/current, or Class 2, SELV.
  3. Use the product 1 second after supplying power. If using separate power supplies for the sensor and load, supply power to the sensor first.
  4. When using a switching mode power supply, ground the F.G. terminal and connect a condenser between 0V and F.G. terminal to remove noise.
  5. When connecting a DC relay or other inductive load, remove surge by using diodes or varistors.
  6. Wire as short as possible and keep away from high voltage lines or power lines to prevent surge and inductive noise.
  7. This unit may be used in the following environments:
    • Indoors (within rated environmental conditions)
    • Altitude max. 2,000m
    • Pollution degree 2
    • Installation category II
