Product Description

Product Overview

The D-44 BW Series Area Sensor is a through-beam type photoelectric sensor designed for long-distance detection up to 7 meters. It offers a wide range of models with varying optical axis pitches (20mm or 40mm) and sensing heights (120mm to 940mm), minimizing unsensing areas. Featuring high-brightness LEDs for easy recognition from various angles and distances, this sensor includes self-diagnosis, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis functions. Its robust IP65 protection structure makes it suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Dimensions

Refer to diagrams provided in the original document for Emitter, Receiver, Bracket A, and Bracket B dimensions.

Input/Output Circuit and Connections

Refer to diagrams provided in the original document for NPN open collector output, PNP open collector output, wiring connections, operation indicators, and MASTER/SLAVE connections.

Functions

  • Self-diagnosis: Emitter/Receiver monitoring, direct light monitoring, over current monitoring. Control output turns OFF and operation indicator displays status upon error.
  • Interference protection: Operates one sensor as MASTER and another as SLAVE to avoid sensing errors due to light interference when using multiple sensors.
  • External diagnosis: When TEST input (black) of emitter is 0V, emitting stops, and the red LED of the emitter flashes, indicating sensor operation status from an external system.

Proper Usage

  • Follow instructions in 'Proper Usage'.
  • Use 12-24VDC power supply that is insulated and limited voltage/current or Class 2, SELV.
  • Use the product 1 second after supplying power. Supply power to the sensor first if using separate power supplies for sensor and load.
  • When using a switching mode power supply, ground F.G. terminal and connect a condenser between 0V and F.G. terminal to remove noise.
  • When connecting a DC relay or other inductive load, remove surge using diodes or varistors.
  • Wire as short as possible and keep away from high voltage lines or power lines to prevent surge and inductive noise.
  • Suitable for indoor use (within rated environment conditions), altitude max. 2,000m, pollution degree 2, and installation category II.

troubleshooting

Cause Troubleshooting
Not operating
  • Power supply: Supply the rated power.
