Product Overview
The D-44 BW Series Area Sensor is a through-beam type photoelectric sensor designed for long-distance detection up to 7 meters. It offers a wide range of models with varying optical axis pitches (20mm and 40mm) and sensing heights (120mm to 940mm), minimizing unsensing areas. Featuring high-brightness LEDs for clear visibility from multiple angles and distances, this sensor includes essential functions like self-diagnosis, mutual interference prevention, and external diagnosis. Its robust IP65 protection structure makes it suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Operation Indicator
| LED Color | Emitter | Receiver | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green | POWER | - | Stable light ON |
| Yellow | - | Unstable | Stable light ON |
| Red | TEST (M/S) | Stable light OFF | Stable light OFF |
Functions
- Self-diagnosis: Emitter/Receiver monitoring, direct light monitoring, over current monitoring. Control output turns OFF if an error occurs, and the operation indicator displays the status.
- Interference protection: Operates a sensor as MASTER and another as SLAVE to avoid sensing errors caused by light interference when using multiple sensors in parallel.
- External diagnosis: When TEST input (black) of emitter is 0V, emitting stops, and the red LED of the emitter flashes, allowing external systems to verify sensor operation.

Proper Usage
- Follow instructions in 'Proper Usage'. Otherwise, it may cause unexpected accidents.
- 12-24VDC power supply should be insulated and limited voltage/current or Class 2, SELV power supply device.
- Use the product, 1 sec after supplying power. When using separate power supply for the sensor and load, supply power to sensor first.
- When using switching mode power supply to supply the power, ground F.G. terminal and connect a condenser between 0V and F.G. terminal to remove noise.
- When connecting a DC relay or other inductive load, remove surge by using diodes or varistors.
- Wire as short as possible and keep away from high voltage lines or power lines, to prevent surge and inductive noise.
- This unit may be used in the following environments:
- Indoors (in the environment condition rated in 'Specifications')
- Altitude max. 2,000m
- Pollution degree 2
- Installation category II
