Product Overview

The TCS3772 device family offers integrated red, green, blue, and clear (RGBC) light sensing capabilities, along with proximity detection when paired with an external IR LED. It excels at measuring light intensity across diverse lighting conditions and through various attenuation materials, including dark glass. The proximity feature provides a wide dynamic range for accurate short-distance detection, such as in mobile phones for ear proximity. An internal state machine enables low-power states between measurements, minimizing average power consumption. The color sensing functionality is valuable for applications like LED RGB backlight control, solid-state lighting, reflected LED color sampling, and fluorescent light color temperature detection. With an integrated IR blocking filter, it also serves as an effective ambient light sensor, color temperature monitor, and general-purpose color sensor.
