Product Overview
The TMF8801 is a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor integrated into a single modular package with an associated VCSEL. Leveraging SPAD, TDC, and histogram technology, this TOF device offers a detection range of up to 2500 mm. Its small footprint makes it suitable for mobile phone bezels, and it provides accurate detection of the closest objects within a 21 Field of Illumination (FOI). The sensor boasts within 5% measurement accuracy, avoiding multipath and multiple object issues common in iToF sensors. It features a Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) for direct TOF measurement, a Single Photon Avalanche Photodiode (SPAD) with a histogram-based architecture, and dynamic cover glass calibration for reliable operation in demanding scenarios. It is Class 1 Eye Safe with a fast VCSEL driver and protection.
