The TSL2771 is a versatile light-to-digital converter with integrated proximity sensing capabilities. It accurately approximates human eye response to ambient light and can detect objects at short to medium distances when paired with an external IR LED. The device features programmable analog gain, integration time, and interrupt functions for both ALS and proximity, enabling low power consumption through an internal state machine and wait timers.
