The AS5045 is a 12-bit programmable magnetic rotary position sensor designed for accurate angular measurement over a full 360 turn. This system-on-chip integrates Hall elements, analog front end, and digital signal processing. It requires only a simple two-pole magnet for operation, offering contactless absolute angle measurement with a resolution of 0.0879 (4096 positions per revolution). The digital data is available via a serial bit stream or a PWM signal. The device supports both 3.3V and 5V supplies due to an internal voltage regulator. Key benefits include high reliability in harsh environments, contactless operation, user-programmable zero position, diagnostic modes, and immunity to external magnetic stray fields. Applications include robotics, stepper motor control, RC servo control, and as a replacement for high-end potentiometers.
