Product Overview
The TCS3200 and TCS3210 are programmable color light-to-frequency converters that integrate configurable silicon photodiodes with a current-to-frequency converter on a single CMOS integrated circuit. They output a square wave whose frequency is directly proportional to light intensity. The output frequency can be scaled by preset values via control pins, and digital I/O allows direct interface with microcontrollers. The output can be placed in a high-impedance state using the Output Enable (OE) pin for sharing microcontroller input lines. The TCS3200 features an 8x8 photodiode array (16 each of red, green, blue, and clear), while the TCS3210 uses a 4x6 array (6 each of red, green, blue, and clear). These devices offer high-resolution conversion of light intensity to frequency, programmable color and full-scale output frequency, single-supply operation, and a power-down feature. They are suitable for low-cost measurement techniques and are available in a lead-free, RoHS-compliant SOIC package.
