Product Overview
The SGX Integrated IR (INIR) sensor is a user-friendly digital gas sensor utilizing the latest SGX Sensortech Infrared technology. Designed for reliability and ease of implementation, it incorporates a microcontroller with an ARM7 core and embedded software to process raw signals into linear, temperature-compensated outputs proportional to gas concentration. The INIR offers triple-range detection with linear approximation for Carbon Dioxide and Methane, automatic range switching, high resolution up to 10ppm, and multi-sensor mode capabilities. It provides both analog and serial port (UART) communication, with active and reference signals monitored, and full fault diagnostics. Designed for use in hazardous areas, the INIR is certified for explosive atmospheres (EX). Its compact design and factory calibration options significantly reduce development time and expertise required for integration into gas detection instruments.

Design Considerations
- Warm-Up Time: 45 seconds after power ON or mode change. Data is not valid during this period.
- Calibration: Factory calibrated; recommended calibration gases and procedures detailed in Application Note 1.
- Gas Flow Rate: Recommended 450 500 cc/min for evaluation.
- Digital Interface: Requires MCU or PC for reading digital output. Evaluation software compatible with Windows OS.
- Faults Monitoring: Error monitoring and fault generation transmitted via UART every second.
- Analogue Output: Updated every one second, directly related to concentration.
- Condensation, Dust & Extreme Conditions: High corrosion resistance, temperature compensated. Condensation compensation algorithm implemented. Dust filters recommended for dusty environments.
- Pressure Compensation: Required. Re-zeroing under operating conditions is recommended.
- Ranges: Automatic switchover between LOW (0.0%-1.0%), MID (1.0%-4.0%), HIGH (4.0% and above).

- Conditions that void warranty: Water ingress, vandalism, label alteration, overvoltage/overcurrent, direct soldering, physical impact, opening/breaking the sensor, exposure to high dust/corrosive gases/acidic environments, painting/marking, custom modification, cleaning with acid. Recalibration voids calibration certificate, not warranty.
- ESD Precaution: Device is ESD sensitive. Proper precautions should be taken.
- Handling: Do not drop, avoid mechanical force, do not immerse in water, do not solder directly.
