Product Overview

The Allegro ACS72981 family of current sensor ICs offers economical and precise solutions for AC or DC current sensing. With a 250 kHz bandwidth, these sensors are ideal for motor control, load detection and management, power supply and DC-to-DC converter control, and inverter control. A response time of less than 2 s enables overcurrent fault detection in safety-critical applications. The device utilizes a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit with an integrated copper conduction path. Applied current generates a magnetic field, which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage. Proprietary digital temperature compensation ensures accuracy over temperature and lifetime. The internal resistance of the conductive path is typically 200 , minimizing power loss and maximizing power density. Differential sensing techniques virtually eliminate output disturbance from common-mode magnetic fields.
