Allegro ACS772 Hall-Effect-Based Current Sensor ICs
The Allegro ACS772 family of current sensor ICs offers economical and precise solutions for AC or DC current sensing. These devices are ideal for applications such as motor control, load detection and management, power supply and DC-to-DC converter control, and inverter control. With a typical response time of 2.5 s, the ACS772 enables overcurrent fault detection in safety-critical applications. The sensor IC utilizes a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit integrated with a copper conduction path. The current flowing through this path generates a magnetic field, which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage. Allegro's proprietary digital temperature compensation technology and integrated shield technology enhance accuracy, temperature stability, and immunity to dV/dt and stray electric fields, ensuring low output voltage ripple and offset drift in high-side, high-voltage applications. The devices provide reinforced galvanic isolation, eliminating the need for opto-isolators or other costly isolation techniques.
