Product Overview

The Allegro ACS72981 family of current sensor ICs offers economical and precise AC or DC current sensing solutions. Featuring a 250 kHz bandwidth, these sensors are ideal for motor control, load detection and management, power supply and DC-to-DC converter control, and inverter control applications. With a response time of less than 2 s, they enable overcurrent fault detection in safety-critical systems. The device utilizes a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit with an integrated copper conduction path. Applied current generates a magnetic field, which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage. Proprietary digital temperature compensation ensures accuracy over temperature and lifetime, greatly improving zero output voltage and output sensitivity. The internal 200 typical resistance of the conductive path minimizes power loss and enhances power density. Differential sensing techniques virtually eliminate output disturbance from common-mode magnetic fields.
