Product Overview

The Allegro ACS72981 family of current sensor ICs offers economical and precise solutions for bidirectional AC or DC current sensing. With a 250 kHz bandwidth and a response time under 2 s, these sensors are ideal for applications such as motor control, load detection and management, power supply control, DC-to-DC converter control, and inverter control. They are particularly suited for safety-critical applications requiring overcurrent fault detection. The ACS72981 utilizes a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit with an integrated copper conduction path, generating a magnetic field proportional to the primary current. This magnetic field is converted into a proportional voltage output (VOUT). Proprietary digital temperature compensation ensures accuracy over temperature and lifetime. The typical internal resistance of the current conduction path is 200 , minimizing power loss and enhancing power density. Differential sensing techniques effectively eliminate output disturbances from common-mode magnetic fields.
